Bill Fraser
Bill Fraser (1907-1987) b. Scotland.
Born in Scotland, Fraser switched from a banking to a theatrical career at 24 and ran a seaside repertory company through the middle and late 1930s. He tried revue in the war years, but it was his success on television, playing the spluttering Snudge in The Army Game and Bootsie and Snudge, that earned him national popularity. In a career that spanned everything from Shakespeare to pantomime dames, he made fewer films than you’d expect: a fraction over one a year for his 48 years in movies.
