Ronald Adam

British actor who was mostly cast as bureaucrats and administrators: his authority stemmed from his days as an officer during World War I. In between, he gave up a career as a chartered accountant to concentrate on the stage. Film character roles became plentiful as he neared middle age. Also a prolific writer and the author of several plays.
