Leslie Norman
Leslie Norman (1911-1993) b. London, England.
Leslie Norman, varied work in film industry pre-war. To Ealing initially as editor, then producer and writer before making his directorial debut in The Night My Number Came Up (1955). He worked consistently with Harry Watt in Australia and Africa, and returned to Australia as director both for Ealing and thereafter Summer of the Seventeenth Doll (1959). During the 60′s and 70′s he became famous as a director of cult television series such as The Saint, The Champions, The Avengers, The Persuaders and Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased), ironically many were later adapted into movies. His son (Barry Norman) went on to be one of the best known film critics in the UK.
