Paul Rotha (1907-1984) b. London, England.

A leading documentarist who joined John Grierson back in the days of the Empire Marketing Board. Paul Rotha also wrote a number of basic film books, including The Film Till Now and Documentary Film. His documentaries often contained a slightly more astringent note than those of his contemporaries, but his attempt at a fiction feature, No Resting Place (1950), was a failure.
