William Rose
William Rose (1918-1987) b. Jefferson City, Missouri, USA
William Rose was an American writer, who worked in British films for a decade from 1948; Genevieve (1953) and The Smallest Show on Earth (1957), and wrote five scripts for Ealing between 1954 and 1957 – the most famous being the black comedy The LadyKillers (1955). Rose returned to America to write for Stanley Kramer and others; It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (1963) and Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner? (1967).
