Hi I'm a big fan of PIFs and have the Charley Says complitations. I am interested in the music used in these films. I know they are contained on many KPM or de wolfe records but guess these have been deleted by now. Some of my favs include the polished floor and the Parachute display team. Has anyone put together a list of these themes and where they can be found.

    Any help would be useful.

    Thanks,

    Canary.

KPM Music have a website where you can listen to a lot of their music if you log in as a guest.

    www.kpm.co.uk

It may take you a while to find tracks that you want as they are not listed by programme that they were used for but by name of track and composer. You could have some fun going through them?

Does anyone remember a PIF of the 1970;s featuring an RAF Harrier jump jet doing the vertical take off and land routine?

The reason I ask is I can still hear the haunting synthesizer track that was played to accompany the film.

I remember what was probably a promotional film for the Harrier where a helicopter flew around a small clump of trees and there was no sign of any activity in there. Then the helicopter backed off a bit, keeping the camera on the trees - and a Harrier rose out from the trees - that was a clever trick

But I don't remember what music they used

It is worth mentioning the Ghost Box project here - see Ghost Box Home

A series of CDs by the Advisory Circle consists of samples and "re-imagings" of the analogue synthesizer scores of UK public information films.
