The Big Question, which sounds like a hundred other daytime TV themes.

Minnie's Yoo-Hoo from The Mouse Factory. I always wanted to throw a shoe at the screen when that came on.

There was the old Granada Reports theme tune from the 70's. It was an

awful tune that always sounded warped & it took a fair few viewers complaints to Bob

    Greaves to have it changed.

Can I nominate "Because of You" from Brush Strokes? The fiddle's nice, but Kevin Rowlands (yes, yes, I know, eccentric British legend, institution and genius, I've heard) seems to be doing a "Goons" impression on the vocal. "Ha-beeee-coz of hyeeeeew, theeeeeez tings Ayyyy deeeeeeew...".

    Embarrassing.

Maybe I am wrong - it was right for programme about middle-class desperation and banality

A neighbour of was employed to drive TS around when he was appearing at a local theatre. On a previous visit TS had driven his car into the river in Middlesbrough

The worst (for me) are: 'Dr. Kildare' (numbingly awful) and 'This Is Your Life' Aaaargh!!

You won't agree but I find Dr Zhivago pretty annoying - not that it's such a bad tune I suppose but David Lean flogs it to death throughout the movie. You'd think Maurice Jarre could have come up with a couple more themes.

How about the sheer banality, and inevitability of Play Your Cards Right (the show that saved Brucie after the Big Night debacle)

Didn't he do well to survive it

I don't remember slimly cut double-breasted suits being fashionable in the mid-80s

Remember Rosie (1977- 1981) starring Paul Greenwood? ... It had a pretty naff theme song.

    Countdown

    Thats Life

The all-time worst has to be Coronation Street - this always sets my teeth on edge and conjures up images of clogs, flat caps, whippets and Nutty Slack.

Dr. Kildare was by the very talented Jerry Goldsmith. I think he won an Emmy or something for composing the theme.

Apparently, Richard Chamberlain recorded some lyrics to the theme. You'd have really loved that!

He did, and I rather embarrassingly have the vinyl to prove it.

"Three stars will shine tonight. One for the lonely.

That star will shine its light, each time that someone sighs.

Three stars for all to see. One for young lovers.

That star was made to be the sparkle in their eyes.

And for the third star. Only one reason.

A star you can wish on, to make dreams come true.

High in the sky above, three stars are shining.

I hope that star of love will shine down on you
    "

Now you can sing along next time you hear it.

The One Show - especially the bit where the woman/man/wounded banshee starts wailing.

This is painful - the melody keeps straining higher and higher. It's like listening to a dentist's drill.
