Talking about Hammer Posters, there is a poster for the 1966 film THE REPTILE on Ebay UK. The buy it now price is 1,500.00!!!!
Managed at last after many many years to procure a UK Cinema Quad for 'Cash On Demand' (1963). A superb and incredibly rare standalone at that-it's now in for linen-backing and restoration as I did for 'Nightmare' and 'City Of The Dead'
I will post on my album webpage on this forum when ready. Incidentally, one of the very few linen backing restorers who is doing this is excellent! Now I have to concentrate on some overtime!!!!! Simon Greetham's excellent webpage Hammerhorrorposters has this beautiful quad-for those who wish to see. Best to all.

It's times like these I'm glad my good lady doesn't like horror movies or I'd be framing and hanging these and looking out for more!

I once had a 1962 British quad poster for The Phantom of the Opera / Captain Clegg that was one of a pile of quads that I accidentally lost while moving house in 1990. I could have kicked myself for losing them at the time, particularly because, having worked in the cinema business, I obtained the posters free.
Well, with Hammer posters of that vintage nowadays costing so much, there's little hope of me replacing it unless I have a big win on the lottery. However, I do have the original British Front-of-House set of eight colour stills from The Phantom of the Opera and I won't be losing that in a hurry.
I saw that poster on E bay the other week. there was a one last year that went for peanuts. Somone got a bargain. I have been collecting quads for some years now (mainly war films) got Great Escape and all the other usual ones. Ill have to get some of them framed up
I have a large number of British Quads from the 1960's, I keep meaning to get some of them framed but it's just a matter of finding a retailer that stocks 30 x 40 frames.
By the by if anyone has a spare 4,500.00 then they can buy an original Dr No Film poster which is currently on offer on Ebay. At that price the seller isn't charging for postage!!.

4500?!?!
I have a friend who has the first 18 James Bond quads, all originals that have never been folded, in frames around his house.
I keep encouraging him to start collection again and complete the set but he says he can't be bothered any more.
Now i'm not sure if I should tell him this info or offer him a few hundered quid for the lot and get the rest myself!

Well, I hope he's sending it by Special Delivery. I once had the original 1962 and 1963 quad posters for both Doctor No and From Russia With Love...they were in the pile of quads I accidentally lost nearly twenty years ago. And to think I originally got them for nothing.
The other quads in the pile (also obtained for nothing) were The Battle of the River Plate; The Vikings; Spartacus; The Phantom of the Opera / Captain Clegg; 55 Days at Peking and David Copperfield (1969 version). Oh, woe is me. I wonder how much it would cost to get that little lot back again. Many thousands, probably.

30" x 40" frames are not difficult to source-do you perchance live in London? If the poster is a beauty-it's well worth the effort to have it linen backed and restored-you'd never believe the difference it makes like new!
There's a fairly decent selection of frames on ebay, I've bought a couple myself for quads of Niagara and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (sadly not originals).
Ikea also do a clip frame that is roughly the right size.

I nearly choked when I saw the price . I think your friend is sitting on a right goldmine.
I have 17 Carry On Quads which I collected in the early 80s but I'm afraid I used to pin them to the wall, some have thumbnail size holes in the corners so probably not worth too much.
I gathered some press books around the same time mainly from the 1950's,these are in good condition. Anyone know if they are worth anything these days? I can't find any sites that sell them.

If the poster sells, I'm sure the seller would send it free of charge by Special Delivery. That's such a shame you lost those posters considering that some of those posters would be quite rare and expensive. James Bond Film Posters and Hammer Film posters always seem to go for considerable money.

Thank you for the PM. I do live in London so I will consider looking into getting that linen backed or at least put into frames as it would be nice seeing them up on the wall instead of hidden away in the cupboard.
The Cinema Store used to sell purpose built quad frames. If I were you though id get a framer to custom make you a frame and use CONSERVATON UV glass. At least this way the poster wont fade. They are printed on very cheap paper and will fade very quick if exposed to sun light. He could also make it so you can easily change the poster in the frame.
One of my favs in my collection is Heaven Knows Mr Allison, Also Hell Drivers. My Fav Hammer quad is Steel bayonet. Super poster and a super film. I have about 800 quads in a box in the cupboard but this thread is spurring me on to get them out now lol. That Reptile quad on E Bay is rediculous. Its isnt that rare and can go for the 500 mark
PS Darrenburnfan. I have Battle of River Plate. Doesent turn up much now but gebnerally goes for around 300.
the quad for Ship That Died of Shame is good also. hey i could go on all day lol
As with all things on ebay, it's not the asking price that's indicative, but the selling price. If a quad has reached 750 because it's has 10 bids, then that is its value; if the seller has out it at 750, and there's no bids ... it doesn't mean anything, really.
I've got a few original posters, but the only one I have up and framed is a beautiful red/white/black ?"Mix me a person" - in a frame from Ikea! I just checked the measurements and the poster is actually closer to 27 by 39. The frame is Ikea's biggest, nice brushed aluminium frame (I don't like clip-frames) and is itself about 28.5 by 40. Cheap and cheerful.
If Phil's Carry-On Quads are originals, tape marks and pin holes actually don't plunge the price to nothing, if it's in demand.
They're a beautiful thing to collect, and a good investment, I've heard ... but about the most difficult thing to exhibit - except for board games, maybe.

Well, I'm glad somebody still has one, Paul...if not me. I do still have a large collection of quads of various feature films from the 1950's and 1960's, most of them valued at between 60 and 100 each. I have far more Front-of-House sets from that period (including some from the early 1970's) than quad posters, though. Below is a rare 2003 photo of me holding the 1958 British quad for The Proud Rebel. Thankfully, I've obtained better looking spectacle frames since then.

great poster matey. Your glasses wernt that bad
Thanks, Paul. Pointing a digital camera with a flash at a poster isn't the best way to photograph one, but all things considered, it didn't come out too badly. It doesn't show up too well on this photo, as the flash is bouncing off it. But the tagline on the poster reads: "Neither can speak...but what a heart-thrilling story they tell!"
Im trying to post some photos but im buggered if i can. Ill keep trying
