"W. Somerset Maugham" (1969) I wonder if anyone might have any of the 25 stories from this BBC series which ran from 1969-70? Only one episode is apparently lost from the two series, which is remarkable for the period! Plenty available to choose from in exchange, please drop me a PM if interested. Thanks :)

Haven't got any, but must say that this sounds fascinating...

And yes, those are quite remarkable statistics of survival for the time.

    Good luck in the hunt!

You got my hopes up when I saw a reply

Yes I stumbled over this one recently never having heard mention of it before, some terrific casts. Yet another series that would make a great DVD release that the BBC ignore

If anyone does have any copies I would be most interested to hear from them as I edited one of the episodes and we didn't have a recorder when it was Tx'd and I love to see it again. This particular story was called 'Flotsam and Jetsam' and was directed by Claude Watham.

Only Rain from the second series (1970) is lost apparently, so we can hope that the others might surface at some stage.

Just time to post this. Happy Easter.

Series 1 preview (The Australian Women's Weekly, 26th August 1970)

That's Neil Stacy with Sarah Badel, not Jeremy Longhurst. I'd love to see these pictures come to life:

Fortunately, all the episodes exist in their original format (colour videotape).

Michael Bryant and Carroll Baker, stars of Rain, pose for the cameras (at a BBC rehearsal room I think), circa 1970:

From the same photocall (Daily Mirror, 7th May 1970):

A missionary and his wife [real-life partners Gordon Jackson & Rona
Anderson] are stranded ... with a woman called Sadie Thompson.

Let me see this please, BBC. An even better picture of the stars at Actors Creating Magic Together ... and Leaving It All Behind.
