Sole Survivor has that plot but no Bonar Colleano if that helps
this was a 1940 or 50 film i thought this was sole suvivor but that was later also william shatner was in this

It may be this as they are all ghosts but I don't remember anything about a desert.
There was an earlier version of King 9 entitled " Bombers Moon" written by Rod Serling,starring Martin Balsam and Robert Cummings(who played the lead in King 9),but no Bonar Colleano though.

I kind of remember a film like that, could it be this one (as mentioned above, but I thought I remembered Earnest Borgnine in it!):

I think it's Sole Survivor as iirc Shatner was the surviving crew member as he had bailed out.

The 'desert' is actually Saunton Sands in Devon :)
The film I'm sure is "Sole servivor" check it out on youtube,the plot is about a B24 bomber lost over the Lybian desert (actual a/c used was a B25 Mitchell ).

I've been asking a similar question to this for about three years now but to no avail. It was definitely a 50s film and therefore NOT SOLE SURVIVOR!! NOT SOLE SURVIVOR!! IS THE POINT GETTING ACROSS THAT IT'S NOT SOLE SURVIVOR??????????????? It was in black and white, shown in the afternoon, and finished with the crew being found in the plane as ghosts. Therefore it was also NOT THE LAST REUNION, or THE SURVIVOR with Robert Powell, and I don't think it was A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH either.
Whatever this film was, it was shown on TV more than once in the early 80s....I can't believe that it has completely slipped everyone's memories!! I didn't know that Bona Omi was in it, but this at least gives me a lead I can follow, by searching his IMDB entry.....
