In order to complete the set, I have just bought and watched the afforementioned

film. This is the first time that I have seen a modern film in 3D and I was left rather disappointed by the end. I found that wearing the red/blue glasses meant that the Colour quality was dreadful. I was quite impressed by the 3D effects, but found that looking for the effects meant that I did not really concentrate on what story there was. I was unable to obtain glasses for the recent Channel 4 experiment and so I could not make any comparisons but based on this film, I really wonder what is the point of 3D TV/Films if this is the best that they can come up with. I would not be interested in buying a 3D TV unless the quality were to improve dramatically, I really can't see the attraction in wearing Cardboard specs in order to watch TV in glorious Sludgevision.

    I agree totally.

3D films have been around for such a long time now and it seems that they appear in groups at well spaced intervals to give us time to breed a new generation of moviegoers or to give us time to forget just what a waste of time they are.

Jaws 3D, Freddy's Dead, Final Destination 4 and My Bloody Valentine are all in my collection as 2D versions. If I want 3D action I'll play sports instead.

Thank-you Gogglebox, for your swift reply. Is the terrible Colour of Final Destination 3D typical of 3D films? Or was I just doing something wrong?. As a low power Spectacle wearer, I also found it difficult to wear 2 sets of Specs. It is a good job that there is a 2D version of the film in the box as I would now be seeking a refund.

So is this 3-D technology a throwback to the old 50s technology? The recent 3-D films I've seen (Up, G-Force) have used glasses which look more or less like ordinary shades, and way back in 1984 (?) I saw Friday 13th Part 3 in 3-D using glasses that were kind of grey ... Are DVDs just returning to the old blue/red comic type?

I've just watched 'Final Destination' in 3D. There's nothing wrong with the colouring and the print is very good. Paul I think your TV is not be set right. One thing (and it may be my video player) is that when the subtitles are switched off they keep re-appearing and I have to keep switching them off again. As I say it might be my player and I'll explore further. The 3D effect is very good(better than Channel 4) but it's obviously made for things to jump out.

I forgot to mention, those 'Grey' glasses were in fact polaroid, a much better system than the red/blue - red/green to view movies but unfortunately TV can't project polaroid images.

Quite right Earlb...these new films were made for the cinema in digital polaroid. Television and DVD does it's best with the coloured spectacles and offer a cheap and only way of seeing 3-D at home at the moment.

It won't be long until a full polaroid system will be available for the home viewer...either on TV or Projector...then all of these films and past gems like House of Wax and Dial M for Murder will be recreated in their full beauty!

The wonderful thing with 3-D in the cinema today is that the pirates can't make poor copies!

    Film Man.
