This sounds like "The Girl Most Likely to...", it was made in 1973 and has the exact storyline you described.![]()
I saw this film on the TV in London in 1973 and it's been haunting me ever since. It's about this homely girl (works as a secretary) who gets plastic surgery and becomes quite gorgeous. She then goes on to get revenge from all those who'd slighted her in the past (former boss etc). One scene features someone doing a somersault and flying out of a window.

Cheers!
No worries. It's actually a very dark but funny movie. Stockard Channing is very good in it and when you mentioned the somersault out of the window it rang a bell.
You are correct Bates. I saw this film & still think about it. I have checked often to see if it was ever released on video/dvd but alas.....
Stockard Channing was really good in the part & the difference between her "ugly" & "beautiful" persona was very believable.
Black comedy is my fave genre & this was one that the Americans did very well.
Hi Corinne. Yes it was a great film from what I remember. Haven't seen it for years. Any chance of a 'best answer' tick Androosha?! I very rarely get a best answer so go on, I dare you![]()

Androosha already asked that question inaccurately, but George Baily still gave him the right answer,
Hi Will, I checked out that thread & Chris B interestingly reported that Joan Rivers wrote the comedy. Is there nothing this funny lady can't do.
I got to know her through watching Celebrity Apprentice & really liked her.
Just checked on ebay & found the dvd available at onlinedvdstore2008 in Australia but posts worldwide. Needless to say I bought a copy.
Corrine, Joan Rivers said she got the idea because she was overweight in high school and there was this boy who gave her a hard time. She met him years later and he didn't recognize her.
He definitely wouldn't recognise Joan Rivers now!
She is an underated writer, still very biting, even at the age of 102 (probably)...
Thanks for all the info Corinne and Will, I may well look into this film again.
Strange how some people join up to ask a question, but don't come back to check for replies (let alone say "thanks"!), then eventually return and ask the same question! I don't get it!name='will.15']http://filmdope.com/forums/ca...vie-title.html
