Can anyone tell me the name of the Compendium Horror film from the 80's in which one of the stories features an extended family sitting around a dining table

and hanging on to every word or wish of a young child as if he was the messiah?

I believe that it may have been based upon a Stephen King short story. Many thanks.

It's not Stephen King but that sounds like the It's A Good Life section of The Twilight Zone: The Movie. There's a family terrified of the young boy because he can make anything he wishes come true. There is a dinner scene in it where he magics up the food and it's something like hamburgers with peanut butter on them.

    The Twilight Zone Movie?

In the It's a Good Life segment Anthony can make anything happen, so his family are rather accomodating.

Segment was also an original episode of The Twilight Zone with Billy Mumy as the boy. Story by Jerome Bixby, not Stephen King though.

My immediate thought too - it's one of the best-known episodes of the original series too.
