In a shocking development, The Pope reveals he is a Catholic....
Unless you live in a rural area, why would you send your gold in the mail when there are plenty of jewlers, coin dealers, and pawn brokers within driving distance where you can compare quotes? Locally the latest commercials are by some outfit that claims they guarantee they pay the highest prices, but who knows? The only gold I have is two Napoleon Bonaparte coins (I and II) I bought when gold was at its lowest. I didn't buy it as an investment. I thought it was a neat thing to have at an affordable price. I guess I should have bought a lot more.
One off the biggest rip off Britain has seen in years, but I'm not surspised, desperate people do desperate things to get money and of course there are plenty of moronic companies like these to fully exploit it.
There is no way in hell your gold is melted down, they are looking for mugs who have no idea of the real value of the item and are probably picking up some real finds and selling them on and the rest of the junk goes in the bucket.
Just my opinion of course![]()
The one good thing about these adverts is that this is not the time to buy gold!!!!!
Just before Christmas, there was shown on TV a regional current affairs programme which included these Cash For Gold adverts and how they rip you off. One guy they spoke with had sent the company a selection of gold items through the post. He received a cheque back from them for 46. He was told that he could have got more, so returned the cheque and retreived his gold items back from them. When he took the same gold to an on street dealers, he received over 400.

It hardly encourages anyone to part with their gold when you have the likes of Anne Diamond and Dale Winton fronting those adverts.![]()
The ultimate chav ads.
On the flip side, our postman now delivers his mail in a Ferrari.
One for the 'No S*** Sherlock' column surely?
Why would anyone want to send gold items through the post to someone they don't know, not knowing what amount they are potentially worth. Even a pawn shop was a better deal than that. Anne Diamond and Dale Winton should be ashamed of themselves (but then they had plenty to be ashamed of already!).
There are always sharks prepared to rip off those that can least afford to be ripped off.
These people are not a joke, they are leeches preying on the most vulnerable, Those who are in debt or desperate for some cash for whatever reason. Their equal are wheel clampers and loan sharks.
Apparently the average pay out is 6% of the value of the gold sent, which for information is approximately 200 an ounce for 9 carat gold, you can do the sums for better quality gold.
The Government needs to do something quickly to regulate this 'business'. Will they? I doubt it.
