This is a 50's era black and white movie, in english. The plot is 2 trucks hauling nitro across the jungle. The trucks are WWII vintage, sort of cab over design, and the nitro is suspended by straps in the back of the trucks which have canvas covers over them. One of the mishaps is one of the trucks almost floats away while crossing a river. Both trucks make it, and I believe it is set in Africa. there are british actors, can't remember any names. this is NOT the "Wages of Fear" but a similar story line. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks

If it is set in Africa that rules out The Long Haul.

The early scenes of Blowing Wild have Gary Cooper and Ward Bond carrying nitro. Set in Latin America though.

It is a long time since I have seen it but I seem to think the Golden Salamander is set in Africa and has a truck in peril sequence.

Probably not much help, but there was a movie I saw in the 1960's which had almost this story line. I am sure, thouigh, that it was made for TV and it was a US production.

The part I remember vividly is that one of the trucks is heard to explode in the far distance and when the 2nd truck arrives at the site of the explosion there is a massive crater which is quickly filling with oil from a ruptured pipeline. The truck then has to make a hazardous crossing of the crater and in the process has to drive over someone who was trapped. Pretty gruesome stuff at the time, which is why I still remember it.

I think there were three trucks originally but only two made it. (plus a crate of cycle clips and a few hundred packs of Bronco).

If the OP thinks it is English he may have seen a dubbed version of TWOF ... such a thing does exist.

I'm Still looking, the film I am trying to identify is not the Wages of Fear, I have a copy of that, may be a US production although I do recall Brits I have seen in other movies, just wish I could remember a name. All the replies do give me hope someone wil recognize the film I'm looking for.

You don't say if you have ruled out William Friedkin's Sorcerer (1977) which someone has suggested? It's a remake of Wages of Fear and almost a carbon copy of your description. Hard to imagine another director making a third film like that.

It is definitely not "Sorcerer", when I watched the movie I'm looking for was the 60's, before Sorcerer was made.

There are some DVD's of "Violent Road" on e-bay at the moment, item no:220446419263, cost is 12.37 + postage. The seller is in the US and it seems likely that these may not be "Official " copies.
