Watched this wonderful film again over the weekend. Just looked on Play.com for more details about the 'extended version', but no information available. If anybody finds out what it includes, please post.

From a search of BBFC, Amazon and the Eureka site I've come to the conclusion that the 2008 DVD release was a botched job with the opening scene missing. BBFC has this DVD running at 81 min, Eureka 96min. The original 1950 film submitted was 111min but a cut was applied at the time.

I hope that a new release will at least find the opening scene intact...although I can find no mention of a NEW release on the Eureka site or Amazon.

The BBFC supplies a running time before cuts were made. Perhaps there is more than the opening scene being restored here.

At the time of the original film's release, I had located producer Vivan A. Cox and suggested an interview with him or a commentary involving him to Eureka but they thought, at the time, it wasn't worth spending any more money on the release.

I watched this film on the Eureka DVD last night. Very poor quality transfer with pixellation, moir and jumps. Not recommended.
