A Hitch In Time (1978)
Someone mentioned the film "Time Travelers" [sic] on the watched last night section.
This sounded familiar so I Youtubed it. I have been trying to identify a film with a large time portal in it and this one was about the right vintage.
The cinema screen time portal was almost what I remembered although I thought they went back in time and not forward and I thought they travelled to different times.
Most of the rest of the film rang no bells apart from the looped ending.
Does anyone know of other films with a similar screen like time portal ?

If it was a 50s/60s period US Film, "The Time Travellers" Starring Preston Foster , Philip Carey , John Hoyt and Merry Anders and also "Journey to the Center of Time" Starring Anthony Eisley, Abraham Sofaer, Scott Brady and Gigi Perreau dealt with travel to both the past and future

More than that. Journey to the Center of Time is a remake of The Time Travelers (it's American it only has one L). So if you think you are remembering a different but very similar film - there's your explanation.
At the other end of the scale in terms of quality, I had a similar thing going with Howard Hawkes' westerns El Dorado and Rio Bravo when I was a kid...

Yes indeed, Howard Hawks not only did the above 2 John Wayne films based on the same story but he did these two as well; Ball of Fire and A Song Is Born!
How many other remakes are there that has the same star in both? The only others I can think of at the moment are Red Dust and Mogambo starring Clark Gable and Is Everybody Happy? filmed twice with Ted Lewis.

Michael Caine is in the remake of Get Carter...

BING CROSBY is in both versions of ANYTHING GOES.
Sean Connery in 'Thunderball' and it's remake 'Never Say Never Again', both as James Bond. Is he the only one to play the same part in the original and the remake?
Jenny Agutter in the TV series of 'The Railway Children', The film and the TV-movie.
In the first two she played Bobbie and in the third she played the mother.

There must have been quite a few actors who have played the same role in different retellings of the same story.
Patrick Stewart - has been Claudius twice (first time to a Hamlet younger than him)
Mary Clare - Hindle Wakes and The Constant Nymph
Ivor Novello - The Lodger

That probably explains it. I was probably under 6 when I saw this film so it's a bit hazy.
I had the problem with Rio Bravo and El Dorado too but worked that one out after a couple of years.
