Before anyone says it's PC gone mad, this is more a case of corporate image: the idea that variety in a product will confuse the punter, and that everything has to look the same, to enusre continuous brand-awareness. It's business, not PC.
Dennis becomes good!

But of course `who`s the daddy? and `I beat up my girlfriend` at 9.30 in the morning isn`t going to effect kids.

But surely that would mean Dennis should have stayed mean and rude? Because that was his corporate brand identity.

Strange, the more we meddle with the media around to put an end to anti-social attitudes and behaviour in juvenile fictional characters the worse anti-social attiudes and behaviour appears to translate onto the street among the juveniles.
That is a fictional character .... the rude, unpleasant, obnoxious, all farting, all burping, poo obssessed Horrid Henry!
TBW turns the TV off when that programme begins.

Well, you'd think so, but according to the article it's all trying to bring the comic into line with their new TV characterisation, as opposed to vice versa, since TV is bigger than comics. Why they didn't keep the antisocial Dennis for the TV is another matter, but those people at the Beeb are more intelligent than me.

So perhaps the 'branding' argument was merely a smoke screen to hide the fact that it really is political correctness gone maaaaaaaaad!![]()

Nice interview - light to the point of empty, but the man sounds happy. One of the exceptional things about Calvin and Hobbes was his astonishing drawing ability. It always helps when yoiu're a strip cartoonist, but the 'real life' scenes in C&H were beautiful in their own right. Like the backgrounds in Giles cartoons.
This may change tomorrow, but I think my all-time favourite strip has to be Peanuts, followed, perhaps, by Andy Capp.
