There was a programme called Gardener's Calendar that followed Tell The Truth in '84, but that was a Gardeners world-style prog presented by Hannah Gordon...
Perhaps this should be on the "can you name this film?" page.
I recall in the early / mid eighties Channel 4 showed a series of hour long documentaries on Friday nights on the history of gardens / gardening, narrated, I think, by Michael Hordern.
Anyone know what it was called? the usual googling hasn't turned anything up.
(I recall it was on before "Tell The Truth", presented by Graeme Garden, which ran from 1983-85, if that helps)

Found it; Screened in Sept 1984, in the Gardener's Calendar slot, called In Search of Paradise. Sir Michael does indeed narrate.
Ironically, Michael Hordern was one of the stars of Paradise Postponed not long afterwards, so he must have called off the Search!
