    It's black and white.

A man comes out of the front door of his Georgian house and finds himself back in those times. He stuns the locals with talk of 'matches' and other modern delights.

Any ideas? it's been bugging me for more than 20 years!

    Thanks

I'm pretty sure it's British. It's certainly set in London.

You might have seen Berkeley Square (1933), starring Leslie Howard. Same story. The Tyrone Power is a remake.

No, it was Russell Johnson who starred in BACK THERE.

You might be thinking of another time travel story from TWILIGHT ZONE called NO TIME LIKE THE PAST which starred Dana Andrews.

I remember at least one version of this story.

Watching the 1951 version, it was interesting to see the use of the candlesticks as a crucifix.

There are some very poor copies of this around , one of which I have, pm if youre interested. But the quality really is awful.

I think Steve Wigan may have been referring to the Leslie Howard version, which is harder to come by in decent shape.

Ah, right. The copy I've seen is watchable but then I'm not very demanding

The one I am thinking of starred Edward Andrews. Evry time he went out of the back door he went back to Edwardian times.
