I remember watching a drama series either in the late 1980's or early 1990's and it was about a english lady who had a foreign husband and he took her children away from her to the country of his birth, i think it might have been a middle eastern country, i am sure this drama series was shown on ITV and there were several episodes focusing on the lady's battle to get her children back, i can't remember the names of any of the Actors or Actresses in this drama series, i have always wondered what the title of this drama series was and i would be very grateful if anyone could help me find the name of this drama series.

Sorted I seem to remember Stolen was shown on Friday evenings for a few weeks, probably at 9.00, on London Weekend Television. I'd missed Art Malik's performances in the likes of A Passage to India and Jewel in the Crown, so this was my first chance to see him and was really impressed. Cheryl Prime retired from acting soon after Stolen, apparently, which is a shame.

Art has been interviewed on various chat shows and come across as very intelligent and likeable, someone I regret not seeing more of on TV. Unfortunately, two of those appearances followed a couple of tragedies that made the news . One involved his daughter, whose boyfriend collapsed and died in a swimming pool, and the other was Holby City co-star Laura Sadler, who also died young. All very sad.

I've only ever seen Art Malik in one other role and fear I might need an Answer myself. He played a tramp-like character in a half-hour monologue. This was part of a series, possibly shown on Tuesdays (following Emmerdale), in which other characters would tell their story to camera as well. I've just remembered one was played by Martin Hancock - Spider Nugent in Coronation Street - but it's not amongst his IMDb credits either Intriguingly, Art was in a programme called The Storyteller (1991), but the programme I remember was years later. Was it something like Traveller's Tales?

Ironically, Art and 'Mart' later co-starred in Holby City - something I've only just found out!

Did Stolen ever get reshown? I remember finding it very good at the time but I didn't remember who played the mother; don't recognise her now. I seem to remember that it also featured George Costigan of Rita, Sue and Bob fame; as the mother's new boyfriend?

I've found this thread after having done some Googling about this series myself.

Cheryl Prime's performance always stuck in my mind. Something a little dazed and confused about it, and that wasn't just due to the role.

I would love to see this again if anyone has it on tape or DVD transfer.

Art Malik use to come in frequently to the cinema where I worked.

He always sneaked in right before the movie started so no one would spot him, I always did though. Last time I saw him was just before True Lies was made.

    Hi Billy,

I'd love to see Stolen again. Would you be willing to swap a copy of Stolen for something else. I have lots of other shows (not released) that I can swap with...let me know what sort of thing you are looking for and hopefully I might have it?

    Thanks and best wishes,

    Russell.
