This is a puzzle from my mum and we're getting nowhere with it - does the following ring any bells?

She thinks it is a 1970s ITV TV series or film around the time of Love for Lydia and the plot was about a middle aged, middle class couple going into retirement and the husband had a heart attack.

The actor in it might still be alive and is possibly called Anthony (but probably not). Has little eyes and a husky voice and is 'distinguished looking' and definitely English.

If nothing else this will probably amuse you on a wet afternoon!

    Any help would be appreciated!

    After Julius?

"Julius Grace is the husband of middle-aged Faith Brook. Or, rather, he was: long before the story begins, Julius dies. The thrust of this 1978 British drama is the effect that Julius' demise has upon Brooks and her young daughters-twenty years after the fact. Originally presented as a multipart TV miniseries, After Julius contains some nudity, which posed very little difficulty to British censors but which was deemed unacceptable by American taste-arbiters. After Julius is based on the popular novel by Elizabeth Jane Howard (sidebar: star Faith Brook is the daughter of British stage and film star Clive Brook)."

Just had a rare brainwave ..... Intimate Strangers (1974) with Anthony Bate.

"Drama series about a man who suffers a heart attack, which creates many changes in his career and in his relationships with his family. His marriage in particular undergoes many transformations."

This includes pictures from the series, which I dimly remember, but is more to do with Diane Mercer,

who played the daughter of Anthony Bate and Patricia Lawrence (also interviewed in later issues):

All episodes exist. Diane was later married to Hadleigh actor Peter Dennis, who sadly died last year.

Oddly enough, Intimate Strangers followed No - Honestly for a few weeks, a show I've happily revisted in the last few days.

Intimate Strangers - that's a blast from the past that was lurking in some deep dark recess of my brain only vaguely remembered, but I kind of remember it being quite a big thing at the time.
