I knew you were in Bullshot, jim, and tried to spot you. Were you a gardener or the bloke on a bicycle?

Hi Gerald, I was Alan Shearmans stand-in on the film, I was in a couple of shots but I don't think I was seen, it was a shame that it didn't do very good at the box office, because they were going to do a couple more

Thanks, jim. From your attire in the film, I thought you could have been one of the gardeners or a bloke on a bike seen very briefly in the background. The film certainly generates some loud laughs, but a couple more films would have been really milking a pretty stretched concept, IMHO.

The GIDEON'S WAY episode "State Visit" includes the following familiar faces:

Desmond Llewelyn not briefing Bond, but Basil Dignam instead

Totti Truman Taylor concerned about being death-rayed

    Alan Meecham on the buses

Bill Westley (Sr.) fronting back projection

Gerry Judge pleases Alexander Davion and Gerald Harper as he remembered not to wear a waiter's outfit for this shoot.

Nice clear views of all in this queue thanks to the director of the piece, our own John Llewellyn Moxey!

GIDEON'S WAY "The 'V' Men": Some time ago, cornershop posted a few screencaps from this episode with the likes of Victor Harrington and George Hilsdon duly spotted. Here are a few more:

That dratted Victor hogging the picture as usual, but there's Hugh Elton as a doorman

Back in waiter's gear is Gerry Judge attending to the mayor

Labour candidate Drummond played by Donald Tandy

Roy Beck as a photographer at the rear right. Oh, and Victor's back too

There's been a fight at the town hall! John Tatum at the rear, drying himself off

Hugh's holding off a murderous-looking Inigo Jackson, but on the right, good old Reg Thomason as another photographer.

More 'V' Men (and a woman):

On the box is Michael Nightingale

On the beat is P.C. Braithwaite, played by Bryan Marshall

On the trail is detective sergeant Edward Cast

On the make is Marianne Stone.

The Gideon brood of Andrea Allan, Richard James and Giles Watling are also in this episode, but are not credited for some reason.

GIDEON'S WAY "The Firebug" - one of the first victims:

I think this could beIan Cullen as P.C. Jarvis, later a stalwart of Z CARS.

And the vicar looks like a young Antony Carrick.

Back in old bill clobber, Gerry Judge on the right is about to zoom off in time and space.

As this allows for crew as well as actors, here's the great Michael Powell filling in in a minor role in One of Our Aircraft is Missing (1942)

He did this in a few of his earlier films (and a few later ones). It wasn't really a "Director's cameo" like Hitchcock did in his films. It was more that Powell's films were either made during the war when there weren't many actors around or the earlier ones were made on a very tight budget and time schedule. So if one actor let them down Powell would sometimes step into the role.

He had acted in some of the very early films he made with Rex Ingram in Nice, usually playing the foolish English tourist

Here in One of Our Aircraft is Missing he's playing the despatching officer in the control van at the end of the runway, seeing all the bombers out and counting them all back in again. That dome he sticks his head up into is a perspex dome on the top of the van.

    Steve

GIDEON'S WAY "The Big Fix" - bets on for the odds on seeing:

Frank Jarvis as a puzzled stable lad

Walter Henry as a bouncer eyeing up John Gregson

Michael Ripper off into the pub greeted by Len played by Jim Tyson

Frank Sieman as ex-copper Freeman with Robert Brown

And at the racetrack, from the same episode:

George Hilsdon as bookie no. 1

And, er, George Hilsdon as bookie no. 2

Walter Sparrow as bookie no. 3

Among the punters, including Penelope Horner and Maurice Hedley is Lewis Alexander, top left. Lewis can be seen later in different costume as another (or the same?) punter

Then back in the bar, while John Gregson gives a tip or two to Max Bacon, it looks like Tommy Winward has turned up.

This episode again fails to credit quite substantial appearances by Giles Watling, Richard James and Andrea Allan as the Gideon children and Ian Rossiter as Joe Bell is also uncredited.

GIDEON'S WAY "The Housekeeper" Well, I wouldn't want to be in her house with this in the bath:

This rather grisly shot, especially for 1965, appears to be Paddy Ryan

He's gone to the dogs, has Harry Fowler, but it's Victor Harrington behind him. Also in this scene appears to be Hummies' mystery extra no. 2, who can also be seen in an earlier street scene.

Do policemen salute senior officers in the station? Donald Tandy just has for the benefit of John Gregson.

Regulars appearing but not in the credits for this one are Ian Rossiter and Andrea Allan.

Captain Robert Ryan looks worried. Reg Thomason has just whispered to him that the film's sinking:

Reg gets some lines in this one, but it sounds dubbed in.

Some more creditless folk who appeared in GIDEON'S WAY, this time from "The Lady-Killer":

Alexander Davion at Justine Lord's cocktail party and on the left is Lewis Alexander

A wedding is nothing unless there's a fight and Ray Barrett is getting stuck into press photographer John Rees with Alexander Davion acting as referee. Pat Gorman at the back looks on. I'm afraid I don't know who the chap in the hat is

Later on, down the pub, Ray buys drinks for everyone, including at the back, it looks like Jim Brady and his lady.

Poor old Ian Rossiter's name is off the credits again.

I guess that IS Justine Lord although side on she looks more like Annette Andre.
