It could be the CFF colour film Danger Point (1971), but that wasn't a series.
They have various adventures. I thought perhaps Kristian Schmid in The Tomorrow People (1992) -

How about the Australian series'
The Adventures of the Seaspray or the Lost islands?
Thanks, darrenburnfan and Arfur, for replies.
The series was probably as "recent" as late '80s/early '90s - so the suggested film, and Australian series, would be too long ago.
The CFF classic, DANGER POINT (1971), is also mentioned in one of barrule's threads.
If available, some stills would be a useful reminder.
Filmed on the Isle of Man mostly in Port Erin
The extra sea scouts would have been from 3rd Peel Sea Scouts

One of the children, John Hicks, had the dubious honour a couple of years earlier being inside a robot Quark in DOCTOR WHO!
Thanks, barrule, for the stills from DANGER POINT.
In the TV series. the adventurers, in the open boat, were enjoying much warmer weather. At first sight, they looked as if they were searching for the Golden Fleece, though the series was not set in the ancient world.
