The video for I want to break free, Queen, was based on Coronation Street character stereotypes.
Not a Britmovie, but the Spice Girls single, Say you'll be there video was based on the cult film Faster, Pussycat, kill, kill.
I have a bit of deja vu here - have I done this idea before ... or has somebody else? Anyway ...
I don't mean the many clips on Youtube where someone has dubbed a song onto an old film (there's an interesting one of Gary Jules' cover of Mad World as soundtrack to the extreme gore of the Saw movies, or The Meteors' The Hills Have Eyes with clips from the film(s) of the same name) ... No, what I mean is official video clips that have clearly been influenced by or used old (British) film and TV as their basis. I can nly come up with these two ... so this thread may not last long. (Look out for the Britmovie legend in Michael Caine - and it's not Caine himself as he couldn't do it - hence the excellent impersonation at the beginning).

Which reminded me of California Love by 2pac, based on Mad Max III. (By the way - those Spice Girls, wonderful as they doubtless were and still are, really could not dance, could they?
