Well maybe not quite that many...

Whilst leafing through Chibnall & McFarlanes The British 'B' Movie the other day I saw several references to one of my favourite character actors John Horsley.

Whilst growing up I tended to associate him with comedy, notably of course the scene stealing Doc Morrissey, always ready to help remedy a ladies chest problem at Sunshine Desserts in The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin. Also wonderfully funny as Sir Ralph Shawcross,'shot in the artillery' in the underrated You Rang M'lud in the early nineties.

John was though one of the most prolific purveyors of B movie detectives in the 50's, rivalled only perhaps by Robert Raglan and one or two others. Often uncredited in his roles including his Lewes police chief in Val Guest's Jigsaw (1962)

Now over ninety I believe he resides in his home town of Westcliff on Sea Essex. Perhaps a family member or friend can send a line to the forum and let us know how he is?
