It may be American and all I can recall of the plot is someone being followed for money or knowledge of its whereabouts. The climax which is what I quite clearly remember consisted of a number of the gang, one at a time, disappearing into a kind of hut at the end of a short pier perhaps each following the previous person. I seem to recall each of them, or most of them, coming to a violent end.

I wonder sometimes if I have dreamed this up but no, unlikely as it reads it did happen. Forgive me if its a completely American film and I will look elsewhere.

I don't know it, but you can remember a little more than that, like was it in color or black and white, and roughly how old is it (how far back did you see it?). It sounds like a falling out among thieves movie and there are a number of those.

    Pickup On South Street?

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046187/

Quite a lot of the action takes place in a hut on a short pier.

Pickup On South Street would be my guess too. The whole film is available in 9 parts on Youtube - here's part 9 showing the final scene.

Thanks for the help so far. Could be Pick up on South Street but I don't recall the plot. The film was in black and white and probably 1950's. Unfortunately there is nothing else coming back to me.

I will hope for the best.

Towards the end of 'Pick up on South Street' I realised this was not the film I had in mind. There are some similarities in particular the hut and it was about the same era, however the film I am trying to name if I remember correctly involved a train chase and only towards the end did the hut appear. I remember that a number of gangsters obviously searching for something had the hut as a meeting place but as each one arrived at the hut they were disposed of in some way. I cant recall the ending I am afraid.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.
