A slightly left-field sort of topic this one!![]()
In the film 'Carry On Loving', the badly disguised private detective James Bedsop (Charlie Hawtree) follows Sidney Bliss (Sid James) onto what was then Windsor Town Station. Very briefly, we see a barbers shop called Mario's. Does anyone have memories of having their hair cut there? I used to when I lived in Slough and remember Mario himself as a very friendly, chatty Italian man, always telling anecdotes and jokes! Lovely man.
The station is still operational although Mario's is now part of a coffee shop and most of the station has been converted into a shopping arcade. Shame.

Thanks for that mariocki - excellent stuff. The 'then' photos of Windsor brought back some lovely memories of my childhood!Originally Posted by mariocki
The photo of the policeman dragging Charlie Hawtree away next to the photo booth is exactely the spot of Mario's Barber shop.![]()
I've done a bit of location detective work on Nurse On Wheels, also filmed in Windsor until it moves location to Little Missenden. Would anyone be interested in then/now shots, once I can post on here?
Hi naranek, and welcome! I'd certainly be interested to see those "then and now" pics.Originally Posted by naranek

Oh yes. I love this sort of stuff, particularly in relation to Carry On & other Britcoms of the same era!Originally Posted by naranek
I recall getting excited visiting a friend in Ealing & seeing some of the locations to some of the Carry Ons.

Percival Snooper's house ( Kenneth Williams) is in Adelaide Square, Windsor on the corner of a short walkway along it.
