A Pedant Writes...interesting list but it misses out Secret Agent (though that's disputed) and The Lady Vanishes (he's very recognisable outside Victoria Station near the end)

I don't think that he appeared in Secret Agent. This is his very late cameo at Victoria Station in The Lady Vanishes.

I remember in one of his films someone opened a newspaper and his picture was in it. Does anyone know what film that was while I hunt through 36 pages? I thought that was quite clever.

They do it in `lifeboat` but that`s not the one I`m thinking of, this one was head and shoulders I think.

I think I must be thinking about dial m for murder, but I could have sworn there was a full head and shoulders one too. Obviously not!

Use the Wikipedia page then. That lists them all on a single page

The only one where he's in a newspaper is Lifeboat - that's because they couldn't have anyone passing through in the lifeboat

    I don't think that's him. Especially not a Hitchcock of 1936.

Yes he does have something of the Bernard Youens look about him. Someone mentioned that this chap looks like Francis de Wolff but I don't think that they were actually suggesting that it was him. He (de Wolff) was born in 1913 so he would have only been 23 when Secret Agent was made.

    Faginsgirl,

There does exist a head and shoulders cameo of Hitch. However this cameo is not in a movie but in the " Alfred Hitchcock Presents " episode "A dip in the pool". When Botibol first enters the bar and approaches Renshaw , Renshaw stops reading his book which is a paperback edition of "AHP presents " with a picture of Hitch on the cover, so shades of lifeboat in the form of the cameo.

Watched ROPE on the big screen last night. Quite tricky to spot the Hitchcock cameo in that one.

That's definitely not Hitch in the photo above. Unless I am meant to be looking at one of the people in the background on the left.

    The Wrecker ?

Indeed.....they reuse the newspaper editor/presses rolling sequence from The Lodger with Hitch with his back to us.....
