Out of curiosity I established today by site visit on my way to work that 221b Baker St in "Sherlock" is in fact 185 North Gower Street. Sorry, Captain, it wasn't Cardiff.

    Good deduction Sherlock

They covered up the blue plaque by the door to "221B"

That's interesting - I'm surprised they didn't make more use of London locations then. Did we actually see the actors at the site?

The Blue Plaque is for Giuseppe Mazzini who lived there while exiled in London. I imagine the door was in better condition then.

That lower one of my two pictures is a screen grab from the programme. It shows Holmes arriving by taxi just as Watson is about to go up to the door

I've just watched the pilot of 'a study in pink' which is completely different to the aired episode, same plot but more canonical holmes references, more emphasis on humour, different locations/sets and an hour long as opposed to 90mins,well worth buying the dvd for if you are a fan of this series! (i never thought that i'd be saying this when this thread started!!)

Just around the corner from our office!

Everything is the same (even Speedy's, the caf) in the show except:

    1) The blue plaque is missing
    2) The door number is 221b (obvs)
    3) "Baker Street" is placed over the name of a "place" which leads off NG St.
