The Big Job - available in this collection
This one's a British film, a comedy and shot in B&W. I seem to recall a gang on their release from prison go to collect their loot, only to find it's behind the wall of a police station - ring any bells? I imagine it's an Ealing comedy, but a trawl through Imdb hasn't helped me...
I just know I'll be embarrassed when it turns out to be a film I already know - it's an age thing I'm sure. Cheers!

Captain - you're a star! Thank you so much. Even though Jim Dale is in the film's cast I'll buy the box set methinks - can't have too many copies of the Lavender Hill Mob either can we?
The Big Job features one of my favourite Sid James lines:
In the middle of dinner, Sid and co. get up to leave in a hurry.
Landlady Joan Sims: "But what about your roly-poly pudding?"
Sid (grabbing his wife): "She's coming too!"
Rather unfair given his wife is played by Sylvia Syms, mind you.
