    Hi -

I'm looking for copies of the above TV series - made in the early seventies, and starring Arthur Lowe (Also with great theme music by Ron Goodwin).

Can anyone out there help? Willing to trade.

    Cheers

I recorded the Ron Goodwin theme music offair at the time, but that's all I have, I'm afraid!

I'm sorry, Stephen (and Gerald), but "all six episodes are missing". Source of this depressing Information: LostShows.com.

Sad news for me as well - Arthur Lowe and Dudley Foster are two of my favourites. Tragedy all round really as this was made towards the end of not just Dudley's life but Anthony Sagar's as well. I saw him last week actually, in an episode Special Branch, with Doreen Mantle as his wife. Good actor.

I hope Arthur looks this angry if he meets the people who destroyed that show:

Pardon the Expression? Not bloody likely. We'll get our revenge on them, Arthur!

It WAS Murder, kind of, to get rid of this and other programmes, and they were Art.

Many thanks for the replies - sad though they are.

Gerald - I'd love a copy of the music. Email me at - stephenlaws13@aol.com - and I'm sure we can come to some trade arrangement?

    Cheers

Oddly enough, I posted at the aforementioned Doreen Mantle's thread earlier ...

I've found a very informative page about the tragically lost series. Small consolation but a nice tribute:

Action TV Online - It's Murder. But Is It Art? episode guide

Comparisons are made between this show and Murder Most English, which I've enjoyed watching the last few weeks. If the Arthur Lowe comedy was made just a few years later it would surely have survived, and yet I am still coming across 1970s shows that are incomplete. It came as a dreadful shock to learn that another Murder series, Murder at the Wedding (1979), is missing the first part. This had been in my Top 10 wishlist for a long time.

I wish I could help, in fact I wish anyone could help because I have fond memories of the series ... particularly the revelation at the end.
