I remember seeing it at the time - quite funny as I recall although, as you say, radio was his real forte. Some radio comedies like Take It From Here never did really transfer successfully (did they ever attempt it with The Navy Lark ?) while others did (Hancock's Half Hour).
There seemed to be a definite divide in the 50s and 60s between radio and tv (although, paradoxically, there were popular radio versions of tv shows like Steptoe and Son and Dad's Army).
