I have spoken this afternoon with 'Twenty-Twenty' television. They confirmed what I already new and posted earlier today, that as National Geographic funded this series, it will be distributed overseas, America, Europe for example. They, however, cannot tell me who will distribute and broadcast the series. Any news I do get in the mean time will be posted here. But atleast non UK residents will get to see this series.

    It certainly will.

Many of those period methods of building these ships were repeated "today" for this series. Incase you missed it, here is the full size scale Titanic replica anchor being used for episode 2.

Great pictures Jonathan, they make you realise the scale of the Titanic. In that picture that I posted it's chilling to think that was so soon before the fateful maiden voyage.

Looks like an absolutely fascinating new series. Many thanks for the information Jonathan

I’ve seen some of the fittings of the Titanic’s sister ship … the Olympic … the First Class Lounge, the Second Class Stair-case, part of the Aft Grand Staircase and some beautifully ornate bathroom wash-basins and taps with adorned with the name ‘Olympic’ … which I’ve used … at the White Swan Hotel in Alnwick, Northumberland, and which are supposedly virtually identical to those of the Titanic.

Co-incidentally Kenneth More stayed at the White Swan Hotel in Alnwick whilst filming The Spaceman and King Arthur … having starred in the classic (and I think finest) Titanic movie, A Night To Remember … he must have been fascinated to see the Olympic’s magnificent fittings at first hand.

The White Swan is a 300-year-old traveller's inn has many historic features and offers meals in the Olympic Suite, which has stained glass windows salvaged from the RMS Olympic.

The Olympic Suite … White Swan Hotel, Alnwick, Northumberland

Olympic Second Class Stair-case … White Swan Hotel, Alnwick, Northumberland

The RMS Olympic was the first of the three sisters to be completed and was launched in 1911. She also completed service in the First World War and later returned to carry passengers in luxury. Of the three sisters, RMS Olympic was the only one to complete a full, serviceable life. She completed her last journey in 1935 and was later scrapped at Palmers Shipyard, Jarrow. At the sale that followed, anything that was of any use was auctioned off.

The then owner of the White Swan Hotel Mr Algenon Smart, who had been a frequent passenger on the liner, successfully bid for the wood panelling and ceiling from the First Class Lounge, the Second Class Staircase and the revolving door from the liner's Restaurant. The fittings from the First Class Lounge can now be seen in the hotel's 'Olympic Suite' and the staircase now leads up to the hotel's first floor. The revolving door now forms part of the main entrance.
