I saw part of ITV3s Marlple the other day. I was interested in the dinner scene between Joan Collins and Julia McKenzie's Miss. Jane Marlple. Joan said to Jane

    We're about the same age

But I look every bit my age, replied Jane

I looked at both women and thought the only reason for that was the hat and tweed suit Miss. Marple was wearing. If she'd been wearing the same outfit or something similair as Joan, then I believe Julia would have emerged the more attractive of the two

They're both marvellous but to be fair to Dame Joanie, Julia is actually 8 years younger than her In Real Life.

And while checking that, I found that the latest Marple (The Mirror Crack'd with Lindsay Duncan as the film star) has already been shown in Norway

    To compare:

Julia McKenzie - aged 69 and.....

.....Joan Collins who will be 157 years old next birthday.

Ms. Collins has taken the precaution of having herself preserved in wax; she got the idea from watching Carry On Screaming.

Which one is the wax Joan?

She looks fine in the second picture.

The first one looks like she is going out for Halloween.

I thought i would start a new Thread for Julia McKenzie, an Actress who i have always liked and enjoyed watching in many TV programmes, my favourite Julia McKenzie TV role is Hester Fields in the 1980's sitcom Fresh Fields (one of my all time favourite comedy programmes) which also starred Anton Rodgers (one of my favourite Actors) as William Fields, Julia McKenzie has also appeared in many other TV programmes including The Two Ronnies, Maggie And Her, That Beryl Marston...!, Blott On The Landscape, The Last Detective, Midsomer Murders, Where The Heart Is, the Comedy-Drama You Can Choose Your Friends (2007) in which she played Margaret Snell, wife of Ken Snell (played by Anton Rodgers in what was sadly his last TV appearance), Cranford and Marple, Julia McKenzie has also appeared in several films including Those Glory Glory Days (1983) and Shirley Valentine (1989), Julia McKenzie is also a successful stage Actress and has won several awards, Julia McKenzie is also a Theatre Director and a Radio Performer with a long list of credits, Julia McKenzie was born in Enfield, Middlesex on February 17th 1941, she is married to Actor Jerry Harte, any other fans of this great Actress on Brit Movie.

I would like to associate myself with the above remarks but lets not forget what a great singer Julia is superb in Side by Side by Sondheim and not forgetting the definitive version of Losing My Mind.

Are there any more Marple films coming out in 2011?

    In 2010 she did:

Marple: The Pale Horse (TV movie)

Marple: The Blue Geranium (TV movie)

Marple: The Secret of Chimneys (TV movie)

Marple: The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side (TV movie)

But I can't find any info on the next ones (if there are going to be).

    I hope so.

    Anyone have any info?

    Thanks,

    James

Maybe a victim of ITVs finances. They have now done all the Marple novels IIRC but there are still short stories to do and non-Marple novels to adapt. Maybe Endless Night will end up with MM in it

A TV Times feature about Julia McKenzie from the January 7th - 13th 1978 issue of TV Times and also a TV listing from the same issue of TV Times for an episode of Maggie And Her which was shown on friday January 13th 1978.
