Another thread about scary music has prompted me to try to remember a series which I can't name....but the b/w opening sequence had a scary image of a

sculptured man's head, in a shadowy, smoke-billowed set etc etc. as the camera slowly went round it..... Shown 'late' for my years in early 1970s on ITV it was a drama series of short stories I

never chanced to watch cos the opening sequence was scary enough. It was like a 'alfred hitchcock presents',,, style prog , but not him, someone. Anyone, HELP!

I found this very obscure series, which could have still have been shown in the seventies, but there is little information.

It's the Edgar Wallace mysteries, isn't it? A plaster bust of a man's head in a foggy/dry ice set.

Yes - the bust was of Edgar Wallace himself. And I recall that The Shadows released a cover version of the the theme tune.
