I have this vague memory of a film that I think was set in rural France. There is a serial killer or rapist on the loose who attacks a woman on a bicycle.

Probably made in the late 60s or early 70s.

It annoys me when I remember these film bits and have no idea which film it comes from.

Could it be "And soon the Darkness" with Michele Dotrice and Pamela Franklin ?

Sure is. Coincidence as a review of it has just been posted on the homepage.

Great, at last I've been quick enough to be able to help someone .

It is many years since I first saw the film and it made a big impression on me at the time. Whenever I hear news stories about missing girls, images of this film come to mind.

I sincerely hope that the remake is not the usual disappointment, any idea who is in it?

Amber Heard and Odette Yustman- both of who are drop dead gorgeous in that model-cum-actress way that American starlets have. Pity 'cos both Dotrice and Franklin were pretty but very girl next door.

Due out in the UK in Feb next year- don't hold your breath for a cinema release though, I'd check the bargain bins at Blockbuster!

What a coincidence ! Things like that happen to me quite often. I'll remember a film I haven't seen for years and then a few days later it is on TV.

The review sounds very much like the film scenes I remember. I'll have to get it on DVD now.

I finally gave in and bought a copy of the remake of this film and was very surprised to find how good it was. Wisely, it is not a direct copy of the original and since 40 years have passed since the original some aspects have changed including the ending but if you get a chance to watch it, do so.
