    An interesting point Jojostar.

My favourite Ridley Scott film is The Duellists.

Well worth watching if you havent seen it

It features two French Hussar officers, Armand d'Hubert (Keith Carradine) and Gabriel Feraud (Harvey Keitel)

Gabriel Feraud is Hell bent on killing and Armand d'Hubert trying to evade a confrontation

Thelma and Louise fits that theme.

I'm not sure Alien does. The characters fear the creature and the chestburster scene scares the crap out of them all but I don't recall anyone fearing or embracing death.

Mind you, I've only seen it about 100 times.

    What, only a 100 times???

His brother is a better 'top grade' director (Top Gun) Etc

because, much as I like 'Alien', it's very snail pace compared with 'Aliens'

But nothing is new, just compare 'Alien' with 'Alien Planet/Terror In Space/Planet Of The Vampires' directed by Mario Bava', or connect the Michael Rennie film 'Cyborg 2086' with the Arnie film 'Terminator'

Tell me what's new? or different?
