Well, the bit of info I'm looking for is so obscure that this is almost silly, but here goes:

Does anyone have access to a publication called The Oxford Magazine: a weekly newspaper and review, which has been published by Oxford University for about 150 years. I want to see Volume 75, which was apparently a bound edition of the issues published in 1956. Page 208 has some reviews I'm particularly anxious to see.

Is this the kind of thing that would end up in the dim recesses of your local libraries? Does anyone have access to something like this?

    Any suggestions gratefully received.

You could try writing to them at:

    Oxford Magazine
    7200 The Quirum
    Oxford Business Park North
    Garsington Road
    Oxford
    OX4 2JZ
    United Kingdom

and asking for a photocopy or scan of the page you want to see.

Same title, different magazine - The Oxford Magazine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. If Oxford City Libraries don't have it, try the various college libraries or even the Bodleian.

If you have access to a university library, you may be able to request it through the university libraries' inter-loan system - I forget what it is called but have made use of it for a review article myself (yes - of course it involved Jenny!).

Looks like Bodleian has it (search here Home - Bodleian Library)

If it's not in the reference section, you can try requesting it through inter-library loan.

Its called COPAC, and its companion search system is SUNCAT although that is for a more selected group of publications/research establishments. As far as publishers are concerned Taylor and Francis cover many of the History and Media titles, but I think thats a pay-to-join.

    Thanks for all the suggesiions.

I should have mentioned that I am in the States, which makes inter-library loan a bit problematic.

Ah, I should have noticed the flag of your location.

I suggest contacting the library and asking them if it is something they can scan for you and email to you as a JPEG or PDF:

I know - Postal Service - Bodleian Library explains how you can apply for an article from the Bodleian (though it might be cheaper to try a different library first). But presumably your own library also has an inter-library loan service?

It was JStor I was thinking of but it doesn't look as if it has the Oxford Magazine if you search under Oxford University in the publishers section.
