    A few extra notes:

Reed's flat was at the Harbour Light Restaurant in Paignton.

The hall was the 400 Club in Torquay.

The final scene was at Elberry Cove

Love finding locations in old movies. Love the GPS intelligence here.

Thus ends the 8 year thread!

Oh, Gibbie. We've only just started!

On this inestimable railway history website: www.disused-stations org.uk I've referred a few forumers on different threads already to the parts played by now closed or demolished railway stations in the fabric of British cinema locations.

The System is referred to on the Brixham station page and its involvement in the films production, including photographs of how the then station in 1963/4 has morphed into the landfill it is today:-

It was filmed at Paignton- you can see them dancing under the pier and Oliver Reed has a room above the walkway through to the harbour.
The station named Roxham was the old (now defunct) Brixham station and the bridge at the start was Churston Bridge looking down on Churston station (which still exists- I used to use it to go to school). This is the place where the old line ran from to Brixham.
There are also some scenes of the train along the coast futher north around Dawlish.

The ferry crossing is not Plymouth. That is the Dartmouth to Kingswear ferry.

It's at Roxham station you can see in the first few minutes its director, Michael Winner, standing by a vending machine.
