Much of it is shot in a disused theatre but I don't think there's any good exterior shots, so the nearest landmark may be this church (with the Thames further back).

You're a fiend at this Greg. I'll have a look on streetview and see if the theatre still stands.

Oddly enough, while watching Escape By Night on DVD for the first time, I noticed that the block of flats where Andrew Ray's character lived in the film was the same block (Hammersfield House in Chelsea) where his character lived in The Yellow Balloon, made a year earlier. So there's a good chance that all the locations were shot in the Chelsea / Fulham area.

    Thanks mariocki and DB7.

DB7, I think the theatre used in this film must be the Grand Theatre in Fulham, because it was opposite the All Saints Church.
The Grand Theatre was closed in 1950, and after laying empty and unused, was demolished in 1958. An office block named Redbank House was built on the site.

I think you're probably right Greg. I did wonder if the police pull up outside The Larrick and that the interiors were the bombed out Royal Court Theatre. I'll see if I can grab some other landmarks.

I think its the same church that featured in "The Omen", Patrick Troughton seeks refuge there and ends up being impaled by the church tower flag pole.

I've managed to capture a brief shot of the exterior which confirms Greg's post.

As far as I can recall I've only just become aware of this string so some of the questions I was readying to ask have already been answered, so that's a positive.

However, I must question darrenburnfan's identification of the flats in this film being the same as those used in 'The Yellow Balloon', for they look quite different to me. Any guesses?

Looking at them again, Christopher, perhaps not the same flats, but maybe in the same area. We could do with a remastered DVD transfer of this film. I do have a very poor transfer of it on a DVD-R of the same image quality as that in post number 9 above. A better transfer wouldn't make it a better film, but the locations would look much clearer.

Well darrenburnfan I would certainly buy a copy of this film if it were officially released. DocRobertPepper you have nailed it again.
This film appears to have roamed about London with other brief scenes in Kensington, Harrow Road and Southall which means these views could be somewhere else again.
