A small French boy is being looked after by the butler and housekeeper (who are married) in a big house in London (possibly the French Embassy) whilst his parents are away. (He has a snake as a pet in a matchbox). The housekeeper is spying on her husband, standing on an inside windowsill and she leans against the window and falls to her death. When the crime is investigated the boy rather hinders the investigation with half truths and lies. Eventually though the detectives discover the wife's footprint on the windowsill in some spilt earth from a flowerpot and decide it is an accident. Help please - thanks.
