Perhaps it would be easier to compile your own using YouTube clips, many memorable scenes are posted there.
Sorry for the random question but as a film buffs I thought you might be able to help.
I am looking for a DVD with a compilation of the 'best bits' of say the top 40 British or international films ? The idea is to use a collection of classic scenes as part of 'film festival' evening. Can anyone point me in the right direction ?
Thanks

There is a short (excellent) compilation film celebrating 100 years of british films...it runs for 9 mins and features 126 clips...title is 'Reflections'. I would happily give you a copy if you can PM me...but as it seems impossible to do since the new britmovie site came along (others have tried and failed), you can buy it from Derann Films on 01384 233191.
Film Man.
Film Man is right about the Derann DVD, it would suit your purposes exactly. In fact the DVD has two separate 9 minute films, 'Reflections' and Reflections USA' highlighting British and American films respectively.

Hello Film Man......
The reason people may not be able to private message you could be because you have it switched off....
Go to SETTINGS.....
Then go to General Settings......3rd box down is called "Private Messaging".
Ensure "Private Messaging on" has a dot in it.....
Then scroll to bottom of page and SAVE CHANGES.....
Hope this helps....
Cheers

Thanks Sgt...will try it right away...thought people just didn't like me!
Film Man.
All as you said Sgt...many many thanks...technology needs to be explained step by step to me, as you so kindly have. If 'britbee' would now like to send me a PM I will be delighted to send Reflections on DVD.
Film Man.
Hi there, could anyone who has one of the Reflection DVDs from Derann please confirm the durations of the 2 films (the UK & US ones). The only version i've seen of the UK one runs to only 4 mins 30 sec approx from 1st clip in to last clip out (approx 6 min 15 sec including titles and credits). Many thanks for your time.
Hi,
I've just checked my copy and the UK version runs for 5m 51secs including credits, the US one runs for 7m 01 sec.
It appears we were a little generous in quoting a 9 minute running time. The DVD-R uses Derann's 8mm prints as master material. As these prints were on colour stock, the black and white sequences have a bluish tint to them. These will not be available after this Sunday 11th, as Derann is closing down on that day with a final open day on their premises.
If Film Man is unable to help, I could lend you my copy.
regards,
Mal
Great thanks for the info. Would you be so kind to also check the duration of the clips start and end time as well please. I did read somewhere once that the Director was looking to do an updated version (which i don't think came to fruition), i'd just like to confirm what i've seen is the same as the Derann one. Many thanks.
Ok, The clips on the British version run for 4 m 30 secs, the US one around 6m 20secs excluding credits.
On viewing, they seemed to run longer than those times. I suppose the rapid fire clips make them appear to do so.
Brilliant, thanks mal, i can sleep soundly tonight.
Try the documentaries THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT part 1-3. They use a lot of cllips you are looking for.
