Film where it's told in flashback. There's some sort of alien abduction/invasion going on, and there's a guy in the group of friends (all male if i remember correctly) who has special abilities, could have been an alien. he's in some kind of cabin hiding, in the woods, outside there are hundreds of dead animals outside... was years ago, its vague, but googles not coming up with anything!

There are some similarities to Dreamcatcher (US 2003, based on the Stephen King novel), but that's not "years ago" and I don't remember it being told in flashback.
I'd agree with LH, sounds like Dreamcatcher to me.
"Fire In The Sky" from 1993 has an alien abduction theme, and the actual abduction part is told in flashback. All the main protaganists are male, but I can't remember anything about dead animals though.
Dreamcatcher will be on ITV1 on Saturday 16 April at 11.05pm so we can see if it's the right one.
Yeah, had a look at imdb and looks to be this one. sorry, for me this would be years ago! i'm only 19.... so in my short life span! as i said, memories quite vague so could have been wrong about the flashback! thanks!! :)

I saw it on DVD a couple of years ago and remember the first 45 minutes or so being great and the rest terrible!
There are "flashbacks" in dreamcatcher, going back to when they were kids and save the retarded lad (who is actually a alien) from a gang of yobs, quite a good film as i recall, have it on dvd,
