Did anyone else watch this excellent one hour programme, broadcast on Monday (BBC4)?

There was some stunning scenery, as expected, although quite often obscured by clouds.

Apart from Reykjavik and a few small towns the rest of the country is a wilderness with very few decent roads; accommodation is usually in huts or bunk houses
BBC - BBC Four Programmes - Julia Bradbury's Icelandic Walk

I only ever saw Iceland from the sea, but I would dearly love to go their with my camera

    An excellent programme

There are organised walks and tours of the interior. But it's best to do it properly. Remember the cairn to the young man who was caught out in the open not far from a hut. The lady Julia was walking with was introduced as working as a guide for a tours firm.

Did anyone also catch the stunningly good programme about Iceland and Greenland earlier in the week? It was about the Icelandic photographer Ragnar Axelsson - Last Days of the Arctic - and was part of the Storyville series.

BBC iPlayer - Storyville: 2010-2011: Last Days of the Arctic: Capturing the Faces of the North

Haven't seen this yet but it appears to be not the Iceland of Jar City which is on BBC i player films at the moment. Brought to mind the 1979 tv series with Stuart Wilson 'Running Blind'. A spy thriller which iirc was Iceland's attempt at a 'Bergerac' come and visit this lovely island programme.

A superb programme ... lovely Julia's most arduous walk ...
beautifully and knowledgably assisted by her elegant Icelandic guide, Hanna.
I agree Desmond Bagley's Running Blind is an excellent Iceland-set thriller.
