hello im new to the forum and am a great fan of 60s British films.I wonder if anyone can help, I seem to recall watchibg a film on bbc1 about 30 years ago,it was a thriller and my memory seemed to think that it starred Hywel Bennett but I may be wrong about that,it was about a man with a past as a drug addict and one of the final scenes was this man and his wife going on a train on their honeymoon and a syringe dropping out of his luggage, I have checked Bennetts filmography and it doesnt appear there.the train footage is of two diesels locos of the warship class double headed which would date it c 1968/9...all help gratefully received.

I wonder whether it's Fragment of Fear from 1970 which starred David Hemmings and Gayle Hunnicutt? David Hemmings plays a reformed drug addict

I think Joe is right in that it's Fragment of fear.
The final scenes take place on a train, the loco I believe is a warship class.
Have a look at these screens of the final scenes, starting with a shot of the train they are aboard:

It definitely is that film, but no syringes fall out of his luggage to my knowledge. However, a thug (Derek Newark) beats him up in a street and then places one in his hand to frame him and discredit his story. Or does he.......?

I was amazed and delighted to see Made come out recently (similar era, obscurity and acting pedigree). I know you can get this on import (no idea how good it looks though), but it would be terrific if Fragment of Fear finally came out properly here now.
