Northern Echo: Italian film screenings to include premieres
A week-long series of Italian films will be screened next month. The third Italian Film Week, in Durham City, will start on June 3.
This year's offerings include UK premieres of IL MIO PAESE (My Country) by Daniele Vicari, and IL PORTABORSE (The Yes Man), by Daniele Luchetti, both of which include English subtitles translated by Durham University students.
Organised by the university, the series also includes screenings of IN NOME DEL PAPA RE (In the Name of the Pope King), VIDEOCRACY, LA GRANDE GUERRA (The Great War) and DRAQUILA - L'ITALIA CHE TREMA (Draquila-Shaken Italy).
Dr. Federico Federici, from the university, said: "It is a unique chance for people to see the pick of new Italian films, with the UK premieres of IL MIO PAESE and IL PORTABORSE. We decided to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy with films dedicated to portray Italy and its culture."
All screenings are in the Elvet Riverside Buildings, in New Elvet, Durham City, and entry is 2 per film.
