as publicity for the upcoming film gq magazine has a bond feature and a ltd edition cover of each bond

    gq-bond-covers.jpg

here comes a long trek round every newsagents in a 5 mile radius looking for a dalton or lazenby cover which will no doubt be the rarest of the lot !
why do i always have to be different in my preferences ?
why cant i just be mainstream sometimes ?
my local asda newstand was brimming with connery brosnan and craig
but i didnt want one of them

Why do they have to use that photo of Lazenby when they put pictures of all the Bonds together? It often happens. It's as if, even after all these years, they still want to put the boot in and make him appear less tough than the others.

First clip of the all important theme for "Skyfall" by Adele.
I suspect that it might grow on you, it certainly has the familiar chord structure in the background. For me, however it just has not got that wow factor of the old days, perhaps John Barry with Shirley Bassey, Matt Monro, Louis Armstrong are just in a class of their own.
Such a shame that Amy Winehouse never had a chance to do a Bond theme, something on the lines of "Back to Black" would have been perfect.
I would just like to retract part of my original posting.
IMO, this will not grow on you, having just listened to it on the radio again I was irritated by the whole thing and could not wait for it to end. I just hope that the film is of a higher quality than its theme, otherwise having watched QOS recently, this is the end of Bond for me.

That theme song is growing on me! Its never off the radio and the radio is on all the time in my house. I think its not a bad song, I think she has a good voice, sorry to go against the grain folks :-) ..anyway, early reviews of the film are filtering through from the press screening here in the UK and the reviews are overwhelmingly very positive indeed, the consensus seems to be that this is the best outing yet for Daniel Craig and the franchise is firmly back on track after the disappointment of QOS. Lets see, I booked my ticket a few weeks ago for the opening night screening at the Curzon Mayfair

Just been looking back through this exciting thread and found it so very sad and very emotional that it was our wonderful friend and founder Steve, DB7 who started the thread - and I'm sure was looking forward to, and would have loved to have seen, the new Bond film, Skyfall - fate is ironic - so cruel.
So Britmovie members please spare a thought for Steve, DB7, just as the film is starting ...

the reason men in Scotland wear kilts is that the sheep can hear a zipper a mile away....

It's quite good, but not enough of the Big Bond Sound IMO. Also, as some wag on YouTube has pointed out, Adele sings:

"When the skyfawww, when it crumbaww, we will stand tawww..."

I hope people are joking when suggesting a female Bond That is one of the most ridicuolus things Ive ever heard. Why not just make hgim a robot instead. A cyborg or whatever. Or maybe an animal or an alien...?

Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo will fully review of Skyfall and all things Bond - including an interview with Daniel Craig - on next week's Friday afternoon Radio 5 Live Film Review Show - but just a few minutes ago - Simon Mayo said he thought Skyfall was fantastic and Mark Kermode agreed. Mark Kermode interviews Sam Mendes for The Culture Show BBC2 next week - and at the start Sam Mendes said to Mark -
'Well?' Mark gave his verdict ... and Sam said 'that's great!'

So we can deduce that both Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo thought Skyfall was fantastic. Simon Mayo said he thought Adele would soon be Number One ... he said book your seats - and don't be late as something crucial happens in the first two minutes of the movie.

I will go and see this later this week, but to me Daniel Craig is the worst Bond by far: he looks more like an escapee from a third-generation dole-queue council-estate-----this 'council-estate' brutality seeps through his every pore, and is the antithesis of the 'suave' definition of Bond, as set out by Fleming and some of the previous actors.

To me, Craig looks terminally, permanently embarassed and ill-at-ease in the role, --all that's really missing is the price-tag he forgot to remove from his tux [which may have been digitally removed, of course]. Graig in my view is a preening, macho-posturing cypher, the sort of 'presence' who will appeal to the easily-impressed who have never set foot on a film set, and who devour all the trash Hollywood and others foist on us.

Brocolli and Saltzman, for all their excesses, would have chortled and scoffed at the thought of the likes of Craig in this role, and they may even summarilly dismissed anyone foolhardy enough to suggest he take a screen-test in lieu of the role of Bond.
