Film editor Leslie Allen passed away in April of this year.

He left the film industry in 1945 after editing Painted Boats (1945) directed by Charles Crichton, having been an assistant editor at London films when Charles Crichton was an editor in the late 1930s.

I wonder why he left the industry at such a young age and with, supposedly, a good career in prospect. It was never an easy business to break into and at 26 he was surely a bit young to have become disenchanted with it.

I understand he was needed by his family to assist with their business at the time and regretted having to leave the film industry.
