    When I was younger I remember watching what I think was a weekly tv drama, possibly filmed in Derbyshire, regarding a plague that was re-released, possibly from a mine. I can't find anything about it online, and a few bits that I remember are;

    bedding and rabbit hutches etc being burnt to get rid of infection
    infected people being in beds in a church
    a man volunteering to test the cure, and sleeping with a woman in the temporary hospital to get the plague
    infected people being put back into the underground chambers (probably mine) and shut up again at some point as they couldn't find a cure for the infection

    A stab in the dark, but there was a TV series in 1997 called Bliss, starring Simon Shepherd as a doctor who I think dealt with semi-supernatural cases. One episode, All Fall Down, was about some archaeologists excavating caves in Norfolk and releasing the bubonic plague. It's left to Dr. Bliss to find a vaccine - I haven't seen it, but I expect he succeeds.
